An international legend in the struggle for equality and human rights, Dr. Height had a long and distinguished career in both the public and private sectors.  She is most notably known for her leadership role with the YWCA and the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW). Dr. Height traveled widely throughout the world to study, teach and promote the cause of a just and humane world, and represented the U.S. in many international organizations and at conferences.  Her work earned her a long list of honorary degrees and honors, in addition to her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from New York University. The school is named for Dr. Height in recognition of and to honor her many years of devotion to the founding, mission and success of Community Academy Public Charter School and her active role as a member of the Board of Trustees.
