Reuben Cannon currently serves as a producer for Tyler Perry Studios, a partnership that has resulted in a string of highly successful movies and TV shows. He has had a legendary 40-year career in the entertainment industry, attaining the distinction of being the first black casting director in Hollywood. Mr. Cannon established his own casting agency, Reuben Cannon and Associates, casting such film and television as "The Color Purple", "The Bernie Mac Show", and "My Wife and Kids." He has achieved success in film and television production, and in the paving the way for greater financing opportunities for black filmmakers by promoting black investment in black films. Mr. Cannon has received numerous awards including an Honorary Doctorate of Human Letters from Morehouse. His work has been recognized by the Motion Picture Academy of Arts and Sciences, the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, the Casting Society of America, the DeSable Museum of African-American History, and the 2002 NAACP Image Awards. Mr. Cannon resides in Atlanta, Georgia.
