As a parent, it is your right:

1. To have your child receive a quality education and be taught by a highly qualified teacher.
2. To have your child learn English and other subjects such as reading and language arts and mathematics at the same academic level as all other students.
3. To know if your child has been identified and recommended for placement in an English language acquisition program, and to accept and refuse such placement.
4. To choose a different English language acquisition program for your child, if one is available.
5. To have access to tutoring services for your child if his or her test scores are basic or below basic.
6. To have your child tested annually to assess his or her progress in English language acquisition.
7. To receive information regarding your child's academic performance.
8. To have your child taught with programs that are scientifically proven to work.
9. To have the opportunity for your child to reach his or her greatest academic potential.
10. To confer with the LCD specialist who services your child in regard to your child's overall social, linguistic, and academic well-being.
 

As a parent, it is your responsibility:

1. To ensure that your child comes to school well prepared and ready to learn each day.
2. To review your child's schoolwork and track his or her progress.
3. To confer with your child's teachers in regard to his or her overall social, linguistic, and academic well-being.
4. To participate in the life of the school.
5. To complete all required forms in a timely fashion.
6. To ensure that your child reads daily.
7. To take care of your child's physical, emotional, and mental health so as to optimize his or her academic experience.
8. To nurture your child's esteem and his or her appreciation of the home culture.
9. To instill in your child the value of an education and the love of learning.
