Letter from the Academy Leader

Thank you so much for your interest in the Amos 1 campus of Dorothy I. Height Community Academy Public Charter School. Here at Amos 1, we offer a comprehensive curriculum for students in pre-school through fifth grade, and our staff strives to provide our students with a rich and engaging educational experience each day. The CAPCS motto is “Expectations of Excellence” and we work hard to show excellence in everything we do. This year, like all years, our goal is to raise the level of student achievement and our staff is prepared to do whatever it takes to ensure that your child has a successful school year.

In addition to a strong academic focus, our CAPCS family believes that social development is equally important. We are a Responsive Classroom school, and our staff and students adhere to a code of conduct founded in respect. We have three school rules, which include: always do your best; always respect yourself, others, and the environment; and always exhibit pride, honor, and scholarship.

Lastly, here at the Amos 1 campus, we firmly believe in the importance of working together with parents in the best interest of students. To this end, each month we have numerous structured ways for you to be involved in the life of the school each month, in addition to many informal opportunities. Join us at one of our many family events to experience the community spirit we work hard to cultivate at our campus.

Please stop by and schedule a visit to our school, give me a phone call, or send me an e-mail! I look forward to the opportunity to serve you and your family.

Yours in education,

Francis Yasharian
